Aswini Betha, Ph.D.

Primary office:

Aswini Betha, Ph.D. is a Senior Licensing Associate with the KU Center for Technology and Commercialization (KUCTC). Aswini's main responsibilities include identifying potential inventions, evaluating their patentability, and ultimately helping KU Faculty Inventors bring their discoveries to market. In a given month, Aswini interacts with as many as 40 faculty members to share about KUCTC's services and to understand whether any patentable inventions or intellectual property have come out of their research. These inventions can include new drugs, devices, software, or other technologies from any KU department. Aswini also helps market inventions to potential licensees, including many outside pharmaceutical and biotech companies, once an invention has been deemed patentable. Aswini earned his Ph.D. in Cell & Molecular Biology from the University of Houston, holds a M.S. degree in Human Genetics from Andhra University, India, and a Certificate of Business Administration from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Outside of work, Aswini keeps busy by spending time with his family. He is also committed to his health and enjoys healthy diet and walking regularly.

The SEARCH Symposium was partially funded by donations made to KU Student Endowment Board’s crowd-funding campaign, LaunchKU. If you would like to support our graduate student organizations and the 2020 SEARCH Symposium, please consider making a donation. Even the smallest donations make a difference.
